To foster hope and healing for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one by promoting healthy grieving while sharing the love and comfort of Jesus.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive. It is a meeting of people, all of who have experienced the death of a loved one. It is an opportunity to talk about what that experience has been like with a group of people who are likely to understand because they themselves have been there. It is a safe place where people share their stories without judgment and confidentiality is maintained.
People who attend support groups find them helpful in 2 basic ways:
- • They are able to connect with people who have had a similar experience and understand
- • They can talk about their experience long after others have stopped listening
