Ushers are some of the first representatives in active ministry that people meet when they arrive at New Faith. As servants of the living God, we approach ushering from a Christ-centered, biblical perspective. Welcoming visitors and members is our authentic offering from the overflow of a Spirit-filled life.
“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of the wicked.” Psalms 84:10 NIV
Today, ushering is viewed more as a ministry rather than a committee or board. That’s because hospitality is a form of worship and evangelism. Ushers assist our pastoral leadership, ministering to the congregation in support of an atmosphere ideal for receiving the proclaimed Word of God. Our mission is to be transformed by ministry so that we are better equipped to do the work that we have been called to do.
The history of our ministry is closely intertwined with the history of our church dating back to our earliest days. We’re one of the oldest ministries of the church and among the largest. Each year our mission reflects the New Faith mission. In 2015 we’re taking our faith to the extreme by renewing our commitment to the ministry, perfecting our service to the Lord, and supporting the evangelical mission of our church.
When We’re Not Ushering
In addition to ushering, we enclose our membership in a circle of ministry prayer for healing in sickness, comfort in bereavement, and intercession for special needs. We participate in the New Faith PADS ministry, and celebrate our extended family and friends in social activities. We mentor a Youth Usher Ministry within our ministry and welcome youth members from the age of 8 years until they transition into our adult circle.
We Welcome New Members
If you have the spiritual gift of hospitality, helps, healing or administration, you may be ideal for the Usher Ministry. We work hard, our commitment is visible, and we rely heavily upon one another for the spiritual integrity taught by Jesus Christ. You’re ideal for our ministry if you’re comfortable:
• Maintaining a spirit of worship and healing
• Making people feel welcome and giving directions
• Smiling cheerfully with a caring demeanor
• Working as part of a team
• Cooperating in humility and adapting to change
• Dedicating time for preparation and training
Joining the ministry is as easy as attending a monthly meeting or giving your contact information to any one of our members.
We have 11 meetings each year scheduled the 2nd Saturday of each month (except July).
